I am a proponent of flexible dieting but the concept of being able to fit some unhealthy foods into your diet has caused many people to believe that all carbs are equal. They definitely are not.

Soda, candy, and chips have no nutritional value and are loaded with sugar. They won’t do anything to satisfy your hunger and will probably make you hungrier instead. Fruits, veggies, whole grain breads, rice, potatoes, and pasta contain a bunch more nutrients as well as fiber. They are better for you, will provide more sustained energy, and will fill you up.

If you want to enjoy some candy in moderation, that is fine (although I’d personally prefer cookies if I’m fitting in a treat 😁). Just don’t convince yourself that you can hit your carbs with anything under the mentality that “a carb is a carb” because even if you hit your macros, getting most of your carbs from junk is not healthy.
